The Next Pentecost

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been privileged to see some amazingly gifted pastor-evangelists over the years. From Mark Finley, to Alejandro Bullon, to E.E. Cleveland, Adventist pastors have long exhibited tremendous gifts in the area of soul winning. Nevertheless, here’s what we know, as the end of the current age draws to a close, the Holy Spirit has certainly not cut off the supply of spiritual power for the expansion of the Kingdom. Not only that, but the Adventist Church has no shortage of gifted pastors still serving churches today. This makes us excited!

Remember the promise of Joel 2:23: “Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.”

Also, there is James 5:7, “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.”

Also, in The Great Controversy, Ellen White said, “The work will be similar to that of the Day of Pentecost. As the “former rain” was given, in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the opening of the gospel, to cause the upspringing of the precious seed, so the “latter rain” will be given at its close for the ripening of the harvest.“

What an amazing honor to be involved in the work of the gospel at this stage of salvation history. Here’s what we ought to be curious about: When can we expect that the Holy Spirit will send the latter rain for the completion of the work? We should hope that whenever we gather to discuss the work of ministry, or for the equipping of the saints that God would visit us and grant us an overwhelming flood of the Spirit’s power.

While we await the Holy Spirit’s power that will cause us to finish the work of evangelism, let us position ourselves to receive at every opportunity we can. We challenge each pastor to get into position at the next Pastor Evangelist BootCamp for equipping and the potential outpouring of the latter rain.
